Engineering Analysis
From tests that are simple (hundreds of tensile specimens) to complex (arduino controlled salt water exposure environment), I have learned to iterate quickly and retrieve the important data from a wide range of materials.
At Citadel I analyzed and gave feedback on FEA simulations. In grad school I gained important experience in generating and interpreting both CFD (ANSYS) and FEA (Abaqus) simulations. I even wrote a 2D FEA truss analyzer in MATLAB.
Also at Citadel I designed custom composite repair solutions to the requirements of ASME PCC-2. For repair applications that didn't fit official standards, I performed structural analysis using my knowledge of structural equations.
Project Management
I've coordinated internal improvement projects from planning to completion. At my previous employer this ranged from overhauling our two day customer training process to coordinating multiple research projects between Sales and R&D.
I spent 9 months gaining problem-solving and leadership experience under the guidance of former McKinsey consultants as I worked to develop an expansion model for a local science non-profit.
I believe accurate and succinct communication is the most important factor to a successful workplace. This is a personal value I bring to phone calls, reports, and daily interactions.
Hands On Manufacturing
I’ve spent time in all sorts of machine shops and field environments. This has involved both manual and CNC lathes and mills. And I have manually written G Code for parts that require it.
At Citadel Technologies I focused on hand layup of carbon fiber composites in the field while also improving our customized kit design and assembly method.
Volunteering at a local FabLab gave me experience with the rapid prototyping process using 3D printing, laser cutting, and ShopBots.
Leadership
From leading my undergraduate senior project team to organizing defenders on the soccer field, I've always felt comfortable stepping up when needed.
As the engineering project manager during my final year at Citadel, the company brought in record sales numbers. As the most senior engineer on the team I smoothed conflicts and kept everyone on the same page.
I've taken a graduate level course on Engineering Management, and during my cohort at The Mine (a social entrepeneurship fellowship) I learned a variety of leadership skills from a diverse set of teachers. My key philosophy is to lead by example.
Programming
Whether it’s VBA for Excel scripting or Python for data analysis, I have a track record of picking up the basics of any technology and quickly applying it to the task at hand. Experience includes Python, VBA, HTML/CSS/JS, MATLAB, Mathematica, and G Code.
Using Python I developed scripts to parse, filter, and graph test data containing millions of strain gauge data points.
Like many my age, I’ve worked with Office most of my life. I worked to overhaul Citadel’s Excel calculation packet which facilitated a 50% decrease in turnaround time to customer.
